San Diego is quickly becoming one of my favourite trips! As a 4-day trip it gives us a bit longer to explore and located directly in Downtown San Diego, you can’t not head out and discover what this city has to offer!
One of the things I love about San Diego is that there’s always so much to do and for absolutely everyone! I’ve been on this trip twice now and I’ve had an absolute blast.
A great way I’d recommend seeing the city – especially if you’ve only got a day or two – is on one of the Trolley Bus tours that run from a number of the main spots in San Diego. They’re around $40 for the whole day and you can just hop on and off them, jumping off at different spots throughout the day!
One of the stops on the tour is the gorgeous Coronado Beach where the very majestic Hotel del Coronado is located, shocker!
A great place to stretch out on the sand and sunbathe & to sample the amazing ice-creams from the shops along the hotel.
Next up is the fab district of Little Italy! Riddled with amazing Italian restaurants it’s the perfect place to visit around meal or coffee time!
Similarly, you’ve got to visit Old Town! Located a little further out of downtown San Diego, the Old Town is exactly what you’d expect of the old-fashioned American town. The Old Town is a bit like an old Western town with the Mexican heritage that comes with being so close to the border. The restaurants here are fab and get lively in the evening – we went to Cafe Coyote for dinner one night and enjoyed a night of delicious Mexican food, Margaritas bigger than our heads and serenades by the men playing the guitar!
Another excellent spot if you’re exploring San Diego is La Jolla! Not on the trolley tour but just a bit of a drive from downtown, the gorgeous beach is very California! The houses look incredible and the beach offers all sorts of activities – including kayak tours of the caves and to see the beautiful seals of La Jolla!
And still there’s loads more I haven’t done yet! I’m definitely looking forward to my next trip here to explore more of this area of Cali!
Any tips for what to do? Have you ever visited San Diego?
